Job Summary
Emory Healthcare is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead our Emory Digital Training Academy as the Director. This academy provides comprehensive training programs, with a strong focus on Epic EHR and other digital healthcare platforms. The Digital Academy will also offer broad training opportunities on digital and technology topics (ex. programming, Microsoft 365, reporting and analytics).



EPIC background and experience in adult education strongly preferred.



Work Location: Hybrid - Atlanta, GA - Mostly remote with on-site requirement as needed (quarterly).



Director of Digital Training Academy Salary: $52.12/hr - $86.87/hr

The grade and salary of the position are based on specific criteria met within the qualifications of relevant experience, skills, performance and internal equity.
Job Description

The Director will be responsible for developing and implementing training strategies, rooted in adult learning theories, systematic gathering and incorporating of feedback into training content and programs, managing a team of Epic readiness leads, curriculum designers and trainers versed in adult learning, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality, problem-centered training programs tailored to healthcare professionals.


 


Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a strategic vision for the Emory Digital Training Academy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. Identify training needs within the healthcare industry through thorough needs assessments, especially pertaining to Epic training and other relevant digital platforms. Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in healthcare IT, adult learning theories, and training methodologies. Participate in continuous learning opportunities to further enhance the role's expertise.


 


Program Development and Management: Design, develop, and implement comprehensive training programs that cover a range of topics related to healthcare IT, with a primary emphasis on the Emory specific use and workflows within the Epic EHR and digital healthcare platforms. Integrate adult learning principles such as spacing, retrieval practice, and microlearning.  Content should be interactive, relevant to roles, and promote workflow and problem-centered learning. Collaborate with subject matter experts to create relevant and engaging training content that meets industry standards with clear learning objectives. Oversee the creation of training materials, including presentations, user guides, online modules, and simulations with a focus on immersive and blended learning approaches.


 


Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and manage a team of skilled trainers and readiness leads versed in adult learning theories and instructional design while ensuring they have the necessary expertise to deliver and evaluate effective training programs. Provide guidance and mentorship, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. Conduct regular performance evaluations and offer professional development opportunities to team members.


 


Training Delivery: Ensure that training programs leverage adult learning styles and motivations. Training should be interactive, engage various learning modalities, and focus on real-world application. Utilize various training methodologies, such as in-person workshops, virtual sessions, e-learning modules accessible on mobile devices, and hands-on simulations. Evaluate and implement modern technology, such as augmented and virtual reality, into training delivery.


 


Quality Assurance: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics. Continuously refine and enhance training materials and delivery methods based on participant feedback and industry updates. Maintain exacting standards of training quality and ensure that training outcomes meet established benchmarks. Provide coaching during program rollout.


 


Collaboration and Partnerships: Collaborate with stakeholders, including IT teams, informatics, healthcare practitioners, established vendors, and senior leadership, to ensure alignment between training initiatives and organizational goals. Establish partnerships with relevant vendors and industry experts to stay informed about best practices and emerging technologies.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree required, Master is preferred.

  • At least 5 years' professional and related experience.

  • Expertise in adult learning theories, instructional design models, developing assessments, evaluating program effectiveness, and making data-driven improvements is highly desired.

  • Healthcare IT knowledge, especially Epic certification is highly desired.

  • Excellent project management, leadership, collaboration, and change management skills experience required.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex workflow and/or technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

  • Familiarity with learning management systems and e-learning tools.

  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development within the field of healthcare IT.

  • CPLP or similar adult education certification preferred.
